Sockets
Sockets
Reinforced connecting adapters (sockets) are branched circuits used as outlet lines in cases when customized pipe line connection is required.

They are meant for diverse connections, especially as far as operation conditions assume high pressure and temperature, in pipe lines assembled with pipes with a bigger diameter and wall thickness. Sockets are connected with pipe lines by means of butt welding, overlapping welding or screw joint. The connection is characterized by safety and dependable operation.

As for construction there are the following types of connecting adapters: standard, short and angle connection, adapters with a reducer for a muff or a pipe nippel. The main regulation document concerning fittings of the given type to refer to is MSS SP 97-2006 «Standrad practice of the industrial society of the USA (MSS) for the outlet integrally reinforced beaten fittings connected with thread, butt-welded and overlapp-welded ones». For the production of the mentioned parts carbon kinds of steel, cold and hot resistant steels, rust resistant types of steel and high resistant types of steel are used.

One of the main advantages concerning use of sockets is the fact, that the cost of reinforced connecting adapters is 50-70% less than that of a t-joint of the similar functionality.

The production of connecting adapters is based on smithery-pressing production. Plastic deformation to be controlled during the smithing process allows to build high operational features of the details. Accurate mechanic machine adjustment of parts is important as well, which makes matching of geometry parameters of edge splicing for welding possible, and allows to reach installation clearance. Production technologies of reinforced connecting adapters (sockets) made of different types of steel are applied by the company ZАО «PТО «Atlant».

While ordering reinforced connecting adapters it is necessary to give the type of branching, dimensions, brand of steel, pressure class, thread code (when needed).

Weldolet

This is a reinforced connecting adapter (socket) for a butt-welded branch. Thanks to its special form and size the installation of weldolet completely reconstructs the bearing capacity of the weakened area of the hole in the main pipe at the correlation of the branching and the line diameters up to 1,0. Convenience of installation and welding typical for welded connecting adapters is available at that. This is mainly used in the oil-gas industry.

Threadolet

This kind of branch adapters is from the main pipe with the right angle wheras one side has edge splicing for welding, and on the other side there is a thread connection inside. Parts have basic design of weldolet. This is mainly used for connection of a measuring-and-recording apparatus.

Sockolet (nest socket)

This is an outlet connecting adapter from the main pipe line with a right angle, which has edge splicing for welding on one side, and on the other side there is internal treating for branch bell-and-spigot joint welding. Parts have the basic configuration of weldolet. This is manufactured for the following pressure classes: 3000, 6000, and 9000.

Nipolet

This is an outlet connection adapter from the main pipe line with a right angle wheras one side has edge splicing for welding, and on the other side there is an external thread (nippel) connection. This is manufactured with the length from 3 up to 6 1/2". Parts are used for pressure selection, drainage, rundown and valve connection. The area of use includes thermal stations, oil processing and chemical plants.

Elbolet

This is a connection adapter for making angle branches for curved parts of a pipe line (bent branches and short-radius elbows). Branches have splicing for angle welding from one side whereas on the other side there is an internal thread surface or inside treating for a muff connection. This is used for the following pressure classes: 3000, and 6000, and meant for connection of a thermopocket or a measuring-and-recording apparatus.
